Hope Wolf

Born in London in 1924, Hope Wolf developed a love for popular music as a young girl. She spent many evenings entranced by the singers and soloists of the traveling bands who played at Wonderland Gardens, the London Arena, and Port Stanley Ballroom (later known as the Stork Club).  By the time she was seventeen, she was on those bandstands herself, as featured singer with the Bob Wybrow Orchestra. She joined Alf Tibbs’ variety shows and played for servicemen throughout the region during the later years of the war.

After the war, she continued to be the vocalist with the Alf Tibbs band, remaining with the band for several years. After marrying Joseph Garber in 1943, she continued to sing, with many dates on CFPL radio. This led to a daily television show in the early days of CFPL-TV and less frequent appearances as a singer.

In 1964, Hope moved to Toronto, and later to Los Angeles, where she performed in a number of movies, television shows, and commercials.  Her three children followed her into the entertainment business, with son Victor successfully pursuing a career that led to starring roles on Broadway and many roles in movies and television.

Hope passed away in 2005, of complications arising from Alzheimer ’s disease.
