Week-End Musicians

As a musician who frequently played with many different groups, I was very impressed and amused when this article appeared in the Weekend Magazine of the Toronto Star on March 30, 1974. I had to cut it out and keep it.  It seemed to me that James Quig ( the author) had a superb understanding of the workings of the weekend musician. Perhaps he had been there. The comments he makes about instruments, money, motivation. repertoire and remarks made by both musicians and audience members sound so familiar that they may have happened on a performance in which I was involved. Surely some similar thoughts will be extracted from the minds of any musician who played weekend almost any time. Please read and enjoy and let your mind wander through the various dance halls.
